Sustainability Requirement

Corenso and its subsidiaries are committed to managing and developing its business in a responsible and sustainable manner. Balancing our economic, environmental, and social responsibilities is necessary for sustainable business and beneficial to our stakeholders. We address sustainability throughout our value chain, and we expect our Suppliers to do the same to meet the following Sustainability Requirements or the applicable legal requirements.

Environmental requirements

To fulfil all environmental requirements defined by law, environmental permits or similar.
To assign responsibility for environmental issues within its organisation.
To ensure that its staff has received appropriate environmental training, or has appropriate experience in environmental issues.
To have an environmental management system in place ensuring efficient environmental protection and continuous improvement.
To ensure that written instructions exist for storage and handling of hazardous materials, and that instructions are communicated to all relevant employees.
To ensure that updated material safety data sheets (MSDS or SDS) are delivered to Stora Enso.

Social Responsibility requirements

To conduct their business in full compliance with applicable antitrust and fair competition laws.
To comply with applicable anti-corruption laws, never take or give bribes and not offer or provide anything of value to public officials for the purpose of retaining or obtaining business or other advantage.
To prevent situations where there is a Conflict of Interest between the interest of the Supplier and Corenso's best interest.
To honestly and accurately record and report all business information and comply with all applicable laws regarding their completion and accuracy.
When doing business with Corenso this means that:
Corenso representatives shall always pay for their own travel and accommodation costs when visiting Suppliers, conferences, reference plants etc.
Gifts, hospitality and expenses to Corenso representatives are not accepted if not reasonable, or could inappropriately affect the outcome of a business transaction
Suppliers shall not feel obliged to “sponsor” sport or other activities not belonging to the Corenso Group, but related to individual employees.
Invitations to participate in Supplier’s stock emissions programs or similar, if they are not public, are not allowed.

Occupational Health & Safety

To fulfil all applicable legal Occupational Health & Safety requirements.
To assign responsibility for Occupational Health & Safety in its organisation.
To ensure that written Occupational Health & Safety instructions exist, and that they have been communicated to all employees
To ensure that its staff has received appropriate Occupational Health & Safety training.
To document all accidents and corrective actions taken. Suppliers that operate within Corenso's sphere of responsibility, such as inside mill, harvesting, logistic service or tree planting sites, are required to also communicate all accidents to Corenso.

Basic workers’ rights

Not to hinder its employees’ right to organise, belong to a union and bargain collectively.
Not to discriminate against any of its employees.
Not to use any forms of involuntary labour in its operations.
Not to employ any workers below the minimum age defined in the ILO Convention 138 on child labour (14 or 15 years) or national legislation, whichever is higher.
To ensure that employing young people (under 18 years) does not jeopardise their education, health, safety or morals.

Wages and working hours

To pay to all employees at least the minimum wage defined by law or an applicable collective agreement
To comply with the working hours specified in the ILO Conventions on working hours (1, 14, 106, 132), national legislation or an applicable collective agreement.

General requirements

To ensure and monitor that also their sub-suppliers and subcontractors performing services for Corenso comply with these Sustainability Requirements.
To immediately report any non-compliance with these Sustainability Requirements to Corenso.
To immediately report any incident that can have a reputational or other business impact to Corenso.

Should Corenso require it, Suppliers are required:
To supply information and data regarding sustainability issues (including e.g. information on sustainability goals, management systems, performance and legal compliance).
To allow Corenso, or a third party authorised by Corenso, to conduct an audit of the Supplier’s operations (including but not limited to facilities, book and records) relevant for the observance of these Sustainability Requirements.

Enforcement

If Corenso finds that the Supplier is not meeting the requirements and expectations set forth in these Sustainability Requirements, Corenso will offer guidance with respect to matters requiring correction or that need improvement. Corenso reserves the right however, to cancel outstanding orders, suspend future orders or terminate the contract with Corenso, as circumstances demand.

Should the main contract, to which these Sustainability Requirements forms an Appendix, contain separate termination rules, it is understood between Corenso and the Supplier that breach of these Sustainability Requirements is considered a serious circumstance that will entitle Stor
